I received my copy of Wicked Wisdom and was not sure exactly what to expect. Would this be a book with useful advice? Would I need to have a background in some martial art to understand this book? My answers were quickly found!
As I read Wicked Wisdom I was given insight to the predator. What do they want? How do they think? What will they do to their victims? The answer is flat scary! The authors do a great job at breaking down why they predator thinks the way he does. Again, flat scary!
There are a lot of things in this book that, after reading a chapter, I thought, 'wow, that should be common sense!', and then wondered why I hadnt thought about some of these things. I guess living in a relatively safe environment I didnt think about some of these situations. Now I do!
One of the great things about Wicked Wisdom is the layout. The chapters are short and concise and allowed for me to pick up and read even when I only had a short amount of time.
I highly recommend this to any audience. The tips and insight could literally be life saving!

I was looking forward to this latest book by Bohdi Sanders. His past books on warrior wisdom are now part of my morning meditations and I was assuming this would be an added addition.
But this, this wicked wisdom, is so much more.
With his coauthor Shawn Kovacich, who has written many books himself, Dr. Sanders explores the dark depths of the criminal mind.
This is not a fun read. One has to be honest with ones' self when reading this as the authors give you a brilliant yin and yang example of many different aspects of life. Anyone who has been in a position of power, whether on the mat, in a corporate meeting, or on the streets knows there is that line you cross or don't. In that single moment, a decision has to be made. Does one cross over or stand ground and live in honor? Sometimes the answer is not easy.
One of the most profound benefits of this book is the number of contributing authors in the last third - all experts in fields of home security, gang awareness, etc. These pages are in valuable in helping make the average citizen safe within their own environment.
I loved this book, and I hated it. Having been raised with a warrior mindset by a father who taught MPs and SPs unarmed combat, I have learned to take care of myself. But it still bothered me to think my own neighborhood might not be as safe as I believed.
I now know it is not.

With a lot of "wisdom" books out there, one doesn't really know which to pick. I was given a copy of Wicked Wisdom and it took me a long time to read it and to write a review. The reading itself is not difficult; in fact, the book is quite readable and the vocabulary rather accessible. What slowed me down was the subject matter.
The book is structured around the concept that "there is always another side to consider." For this reason, the introductory essay written by co-author S. Kovacich, `Two sides of the same coin," is fundamental. Then, each chapter has this dual approach the enlighten mind and the criminal mind.
Our culture demands that we take sides; therefore, at times we have such myopic worldviews we only think and accept our points of view, and "evaluate" (=judge) others from that point of view (we tend, for example, to watch only the news that take our sides). Recently there have been quite a few books that focused on the criminal mind, giving us (supposedly not criminal), an opportunity to peek into the darkness.
This book approaches the opposites in a very simple way. The essays are not difficult to read and one doesn't need to have a degree in psychology to understand. Yet, the opportunity given by the authors are really unique.
I have used the book for my own meditation but also used it in conversation with youth groups (mostly young adult). It created an incredible amount of conversation. Each one of us was challenged to examine our thoughts and feelings and not taking them for granted. Most intriguing were the readings of the "criminal" mind; it was an eye opener for many to see how much "it makes sense" if you see it from their point of view.
I wondered if parents could use such a book with their late-teen child for regular family conversation... even if just in the van, in between practices. (Not having children, I am not sure what this would create but I am sure it would make a very good reading for everyone. )
Violence is everywhere; we are becoming more and more unable to see the signs, understanding its logic and intervene effectively. Because it all starts in the mind, wouldn't "educating the mind" be an obvious first step? Well, here's the step. I think it's a book that is at the same time approachable, easy to read and yet challenging and illuminating.

What a shame. Dr. Sanders' prior books were filled w/ wisdom (from the ancients to the modern sages). The material in this book could be stated on one page -- Oh wait, it is -- and repeated over and over again. Buy his earlier books.
any book it seems by Bohdi Sanders are great. just as the title employes, this is from the dark side. for each quote, there is a dark philosophy. then the enlightened mind, a proverb and then wicked facts. this book tells of the evil and wicked side of people. great read
